Rule change - contributions during disability

On December 1, 2014, Co-operative Superannuation Society (CSS) delegates approved a change to the CSS Pension Plan rule that permits contributions during periods of disability.

Under the new rule, employees, employers or disability insurers will be permitted, but not required, to make pension contributions during a period of disability.

Previously, the Plan's rule stated that pension contributions during a period of disability would be accepted from a disability insurer only.

The Plan made the change to provide greater flexibility for CSS employee and employer members.

Under the new rule, any contributions made during a period of disability will be considered required matched contributions.

The new rule is effective January 1, 2015.
