Company Description

Established in 1939, the CSS Pension Plan (the Plan) supplies retirement products and services to approximately 350 co-operatives and credit unions across Canada through a member-owned, non-profit pension society. With over $4B under administration and more than 47,000 members, the Plan is one of Canada's largest defined contribution (DC) pension plans.


The CSS Pension Plan is seeking a highly motivated, conscientious individual to join its pension administration team.  The primary responsibility for this position is to deliver excellent service to former plan members, spouses, beneficiaries and their financial advisors, when applying to transfer or withdraw their retirement benefits from the Plan.

The successful candidate will be a proactive self-starter who will have primary responsibility for assisting Plan members and their advisors with the completion and submission of the documents required to withdraw retirement funds from the Plan or transfer them to another registered plan.  

In response to member (and/or their authorized financial advisor) requests for retirement funds withdrawal or transfer from the Plan, you will:

  • Explain all Plan requirements for funds withdrawal / transfer
  • Guide the member / advisor through the completion and submission of appropriate forms
  • Enter properly completed transfer and repayment requests into the Plan's pension administration system
  • Generate payments, complete required transfer documentation and forward to receiving financial institutions
  •  Provide confirmation documents to members


Typically, the knowledge and skills required to succeed in this position will have been acquired through post-secondary training and experience in the areas of pensions, benefits, or registered plans.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • An innate ability to deliver member service in a pleasant and professional manner

  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage work flows

  • Experience with pensions, benefits, and/or registered plans

  • The ability to communicate complex information in a straightforward manner

  • Experience with registered plan transfers

This position offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits.  The position reports to the Plan's Administration Manager.
