Summary
Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Specialist will play a key role to support the planning and execution of communication strategies to meet the information needs of CSS members, employers and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities
In this challenging and exciting position, you will use your superior writing, design, organizational and interpersonal skills to transform complex information into engaging communications. You will help evolve the overall member experience provided by CSS, growing the Plan’s digital communication initiatives along with developing print-based information materials.
You are a proactive self-starter, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and have a flair for creating top-notch content for social media, video, e-newsletters, websites, and publications, including annual reports and magazines. You will support the Communications Manager in telling the Plan’s story in an impactful way, creating brand awareness and engagement across multiple, diverse audiences.
Using analytics data and other measurement tools, you are skilled at reporting the outcomes of digital communication efforts and making recommendations for improvements to the Plan’s content strategies.
Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in a relevant discipline such as Journalism, Communications, Marketing or Public Relations.
- A strong communicator with three to five years’ recent, related experience.
- Experience working in a pension or finance environment would be an asset.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Demonstrated experience preparing quality communication materials including:
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Excellent organizational and verbal communication skills
- The ability to communicate complex information to non-experts
- Demonstrated experience with digital communication technologies (MailChimp, Hootsuite), UX/UI design and print-based graphic design
- Proven knowledge of SharePoint or other content management systems
- Demonstrated experience with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud platforms (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and XD)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
- Experience in the use of analytics software, surveys and other measurement tools
- Strong content planning skills for both print and digital media
- Demonstrated experience in assessing stakeholders’ communication needs
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team in both a remote and traditional office environment
- Proficiency in managing distribution lists
