Pension Plan Consultant (PPC)​

Company Description:
Pioneered in 1939, the Co-operative Superannuation Society (CSS) Pension Plan, located in Saskatoon, is one of the oldest and largest defined contribution pension plans in Canada.  With more than $4 billion in assets it has grown to serve over 300 employers and 48,000 current and past co-operative and credit union employees across Canada, including 7,000 retirees.

Summary:
The CSS Pension Plan is seeking a highly motivated, conscientious individual to play a key role in its Member Services Team. The PPC's primary responsibility will be to assist plan members, of all ages, in making informed decisions respecting the options and choices available to them for their pension funds and understand the value of being a member of the CSS Pension Plan.

Key Responsibilities:

In this challenging and exciting position, you will assist plan members in preparing for their retirement by:

  • Assisting members with investment choice decisions regarding their pension funds in the Plan
  • Delivering workshops and seminars
  • Preparing retirement income illustrations, retirement plans, and assisting members in applying for retirement income from the Plan
  • Proactively reaching out to members nearing retirement to make them aware of their options
  • Assisting members in the use of retirement planning tools and information provided by the Plan
  • Responding to a wide range of member's questions via telephone, email and written correspondence

Key requirements:

To be successful in this position, you will possess the following qualifications:

  • Able to work independently following established processes, while being part of the Member Services Team
  • Able to problem solve and conduct research in order to effectively respond to plan member inquiries
  • Be committed to providing high-quality service to members of the Plan
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Presentation and public speaking skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Some travel is required typically in the spring and fall
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation
    • If you do not possess the CFP designation you will be close to achieving it
  • Relevant post-secondary education, pension industry experience and/or financial planning experience
  • Training and experience in the delivery of adult education would be an asset​
